Objectives of The Conservation Symposium

  • facilitate the incorporation of both science and real-world practical experience into broader conservation policy and practice
  • increase capacity for informed decision making within the conservation sector, with a particular focus on existing conservation practitioners, new entrants to the wildlife economy and students
  • ensure that the research agenda is guided by and responsive to the needs of conservation, in terms of both emerging and ongoing challenging conservation issues
  • develop and share a cohesive southern African approach to conservation and sustainable utilisation
  • maximise the reach of the content by providing an online resource to archive and share presentations and discussions for those that cannot attend in person
  • provide for Continuing Professional Development of practitioners and scientists
